CREATED AND BROUGHT TO LIFE IN THE NORFOLK COUNTRYSIDE
Gardoolet®’s story starts with a rather inventive chap named Nick. A farmer by trade, Nick’s an ideas man. He’s also a keen croquet and pool player, and wholeheartedly outdoorsy. As a young boy, he would happily indulge in a spot of croquet on his parents’ lawn, but often found the game lacked that fast-paced nature he so loved in pool. The idea’s man that he is, Nick conjured up something equally fun, yet quicker to play and smaller in size. Combining his love for the outdoors with two classic British games, the idea for Gardoolet® was hatched.
Years down the line, Nick had become a man of many talents. Not only had he racked up a fair few decades on the farm, he also invented an award-winning farming gadget and joined the Mundesley Volunteer Inshore Lifeboat crew. His fledgling garden game idea, however, didn’t gain traction until he met fellow volunteer Gerry. Affectionately known as the ‘man mountain’ among his crew, Gerry’s not only rather tall, but has that business acumen an invention like Gardoolet® craves. The pair sparked an instant friendship and decided to get Nick’s brainchild off the ground.
Having crafted a prototype, Nick and Gerry headed to Olympia’s London Toy and Games Fair to test the waters. Flooded with positive feedback, it was decided there and then that Gardoolet® was to become a reality. After much deliberation, and endless games played between Nick and Gerry, Gardoolet®’s concept, design and construction were settled, and they went on to sell their very first set at the Royal Norfolk Show 2018. Since then, they’ve continued to delight croquet, pool and garden enthusiasts alike with this beautifully hand-crafted wooden lawn game.
